1. About this policy
The Perch Search is operated by PARRAGON LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17222079.
Registered office: 128 City Road, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 2NX.
Customer-service and privacy email: hello@theperchsearch.co.uk. Written notices can also be sent to our registered office, addressed to “The Perch Search”.
View our Companies House registrationThis policy explains how journalists, broadcasters, podcasters, researchers and other media representatives should contact The Perch Search, and what we are able to provide. It applies to theperchsearch.co.uk and to any statement given in the name of The Perch Search.
2. Email is the only press channel
All press and media enquiries must come to us by email at press@theperchsearch.co.uk. We do not take press enquiries by telephone, direct message, social comment or through a seller or buyer account, and we do not handle them in person at our registered office.
Emailing gives us a written record, which protects both of us: it lets us check what was said, confirm who we are speaking to, and get back to you in the order enquiries arrived. Please put the word Press in the subject line and tell us your publication, the story you are working on and your deadline.
We aim to reply to press enquiries within two working days. We cannot promise a same-day response, and we are under no obligation to comment on any particular story.
3. What we can help with
- A written or attributed statement from an authorised spokesperson of PARRAGON LTD.
- Background briefings on how the marketplace works, on the understanding that they are not for publication unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Approved photographs of listed birds and aviary setups, credited to the seller who supplied them and used only in connection with your story.
- Verified, aggregated figures about the service — for example counts of listings or sellers — where sharing them does not identify any individual.
4. What we will not share
Some information is private and stays private, however the request is framed. We will not provide:
- The identity, contact details, postcode or precise location of a seller or buyer, or anything from which they could be identified.
- Identification documents, address evidence or verification records uploaded by a seller.
- Messages, enquiries or transaction records between a buyer and a seller.
- Payment, subscription or account details of any user.
- Information about a specific dispute, refund, listing removal or moderation decision.
These limits come from UK data protection law and from the promises we make to the people who use the service. A press enquiry does not override them, and neither does a request made “off the record”.
5. Speaking to sellers and buyers
If you would like to interview someone who uses The Perch Search, contact us first. We will pass your request on and let the person decide whether to take part. We do not hand over their contact details and we do not put pressure on anyone to speak.
Anyone who takes part does so in their own capacity, not as a representative of The Perch Search, unless we have said otherwise in writing. Filming, photographing or recording at someone’s home or aviary needs that person’s consent, and animal welfare considerations may mean some setups cannot be shown.
6. Using our name, logo and material
You may use the name “The Perch Search” and our logo to report on us accurately, unaltered, and with clear attribution. Please do not recolour, distort or rebuild the logo, and do not use it in a way that suggests we endorse your publication, product or view. For anything beyond news reporting — advertising, merchandise or a partnership — ask us in writing first.
Material we send you is supplied for the story it was requested for. If you want to reuse it elsewhere, email us again and we will confirm.
7. Accuracy, right of reply and corrections
Before publishing anything about us that could be read as criticism, an allegation, or a claim about a specific listing or person, please give us the substance of it by email so we can respond or correct it. We will not try to block publication, but we do ask to be heard.
If we appear in your piece and it contains a factual error about us, email the same address with the correction and we will ask you to amend it. Where we have published something inaccurate about a third party, we will correct it promptly and tell anyone who relied on it.
8. Researchers, surveys and data requests
Academic or journalistic research using our data should be emailed to the press address with your research question, what you need, how long you will hold it and where it will be published. We will not transfer personal data simply because a request is described as research; anything we can share will be aggregated or anonymised, and usually needs a written agreement first.
9. Legal and urgent contact
For legal notices, court orders, takedown requests or safety concerns, contact the customer-service address set out in our Privacy policy rather than the press address, so the right person sees it. If something involves an immediate risk to animal welfare or a person’s safety, contact the relevant authority as well as us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service and our contact arrangements develop. The version shown at the top of this page is the one in force. Nothing here is a contract, and it does not create a right of access to anyone at PARRAGON LTD.
