2. Our marketplace

We provide a UK bird-listing and enquiry service. We are not the seller of birds advertised by independent sellers. Any agreement to buy a bird is between the buyer and the seller; our checkout charges for advertising and membership services, not the purchase of a bird.

Buyers and sellers must agree the bird’s condition, price, collection or lawful transport arrangements and any sale terms directly. We do not guarantee that a listing will result in a sale or that an alert will lead to an available bird.

3. Accounts and acceptable use

You must be at least 18 to create an account, pay for our services or arrange a sale through the site. Provide accurate details, keep your sign-in credentials secure and notify us if you suspect misuse. You remain responsible for information you submit.

  • Do not post fraudulent, misleading, discriminatory, abusive or unlawful content.
  • Do not impersonate others, misuse identity documents, infringe intellectual property or attempt unauthorised access.
  • Only upload photographs and material you own or have permission to use. You give us permission to display that material and include listing information in member alerts for operating the service.

4. Sellers, bird welfare and lawful advertising

Sellers must have the right to sell each bird and accurately describe species, age where known, sex, health, DNA-test claims, price and relevant history. Buyers should check suitability, care needs and the seller’s evidence before agreeing a purchase.

Sellers must comply with the animal welfare, animal-selling licensing, disease-control, bird-registration and transport rules applicable in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Where a licence is required, obtain it and include required licence information in advertising. Calling yourself a hobbyist does not determine whether a licence is required.

Do not advertise unlawfully captured wild birds, prohibited species or birds whose sale requires permits or certificates you do not hold. Protected species may require CITES or other documentation. Do not advertise unfit birds or arrange transport that compromises welfare. Check current official guidance and your local authority’s requirements.

Mark birds sold or remove unavailable adverts promptly. Any breeder description, review, genetic claim or photograph should be checked independently by the buyer.

5. What “ID Verified” means

The current badge is generated automatically when a seller uploads an identity document. It does not mean that a person has manually checked the document’s authenticity, confirmed a licence, inspected the premises or assessed the bird’s health. It is not an endorsement or guarantee of the seller. Buyers should carry out their own checks.

6. Fees and memberships

  • Seller membership: £9.99 per month for unlimited listings while the membership is active.
  • One-off advert: £1 per bird, using one listing credit. The advert lasts 30 days from posting and then becomes hidden, unless sold or removed earlier.
  • Buyer membership: £4.99 per month for new-bird notifications, including email alerts when the email service is available. Delivery can be delayed or affected by spam filters.

These are the advertised GBP prices including applicable VAT. The total, billing interval and any tax treatment are displayed at checkout before payment. Payments are handled by Stripe; any additional payment-service terms shown at checkout also apply. Where the site displays a test-payment notice, checkout is for testing and does not take real money.

Monthly memberships renew automatically each month until cancelled. Seller subscription listings become hidden when the membership no longer gives active access; cancelling does not necessarily delete those listings. One-off advert visibility is governed separately by its 30-day period.

7. Cancellation, refunds and consumer rights

You can manage payment details and cancel a membership using “Manage or cancel” in your account. The payment portal shows the effective cancellation date and any remaining paid access. Cancellation stops future renewals in accordance with that confirmation. A failed payment may interrupt membership benefits.

If you are buying our services as a consumer, you normally have 14 days from entering the contract to cancel a distance service contract without giving a reason. Notify PARRAGON LTD clearly at the contact address above, identifying your account, the service purchased and purchase date. You may use this wording: “I give notice that I cancel my contract for [service], purchased on [date]. Name: [name]. Account email: [email]. Date: [date].” No particular wording is required.

If you expressly request that a service starts during that period, any lawful charge for services already supplied must be proportionate. The right is only lost after full performance where the legal requirements for express consent and acknowledgement have been met. Posting an advert or accessing a membership does not, by itself, waive your statutory rights.

Where a cancellation refund is legally due, it will normally be returned through the original payment method within 14 days of your cancellation notice, subject to applicable law. We do not exclude refunds or remedies required by law. Outside statutory rights, stopping a renewal does not itself create an entitlement to a refund of an already-paid period.

Your rights when buying a bird depend on whether the seller is a business or a private individual. Business sellers must comply with applicable consumer law; a marketplace label does not remove those obligations.

8. Availability, moderation and complaints

We aim to keep the service available but cannot promise uninterrupted access. We may restrict accounts or remove listings where reasonably necessary for unlawful activity, fraud, welfare concerns, security or a material breach of these terms. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow you to contact us about the decision. Statutory refund rights remain unaffected.

Send complaints, suspected unlawful adverts and welfare concerns to PARRAGON LTD at the contact address above, with the listing link and relevant details. For an animal in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service or animal-welfare authority rather than relying on a message to us.

9. Responsibility and applicable law

We will provide paid services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not make guarantees about independent sellers, but this does not remove our responsibility for our own service.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers retain the mandatory protections of the part of the UK in which they live and may bring proceedings in their local courts where the law permits.

We may update these terms for changes in law or the service. Material changes affecting an existing paid service should be communicated in advance where required and will not remove accrued rights or retrospectively change a completed purchase.
